- the mechanical strength of the tank will decrease to the point of failure at an unpredictable moment;
- the properties of the reagents and products flowing through the equipment will change;
- there will appear impurities and solid deposits in the working liquid during its processing and storage.
All this is not acceptable, so special materials and technologies are used to prevent the preservation of technology and properties of substances (including aggressive alkalis, acids, solutions and solvents of different concentrations, gas mixtures).

Manufacturing of tanks in the chemical industry requires, first of all, alloyed steels – corrosion-resistant, with the required thermal conductivity and weldability. A number of tasks are performed using aluminum alloys, but preference is given to stainless steels – corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant and heat-resistant.
